NZ Pounamu Wahaika

This unique Wahaika is crafted from New Zealand Tangiwai Pounamu. 

The stylised design beautifully connects to the traditional pattern of the Wahaika. 

Wahaika is the Kopu Maori (Maori word) for ‘mouth of the fish’ which refers to the distinct notch in the side of the weapon, Kerry Thompson has enhanced that even further by adding a stylised Toroa head (sea bird head) on the other side of the Wahaika. 

The Wahaika is now viewed as a symbol of leadership, protection and purpose.
